The Spirit Moves Over Australia
I praise God for his mercy and love in healing me, an
unworthy sinner
I migrated from India in July, 1987. Within two months, I began to experience acute
cramps and pain in my wrist and fingers and was diagnosed as having Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome. Over the years the pain and discomfort increased.
The first visit to the surgeon was scary. He concluded that my condition was beyond
surgery. However, he sent me to the neurologist, whose report was also alarming in that I
had RSI ( a severe form of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome ). Medical Science hadn't much to offer
apart from surgery with every chance of the pain worsening. The other most impracticable
advice being, to refrain from using my hands. Despite treatment there was no relief. I
could not hold a pen or clap my hands or lift them up.
I attended a day retreat on 24th October '98 conducted by Fr Mathew Naikamparambil and Fr
Augustine Mundackkat. During his first talk, Fr Mathew discerned that a person with sore
hands and shoulders was being healed. I didn't acknowledge this healing. However I
observed as the day passed, that I was beginning to clap and raise my hands in praise and
worship-something I was incapacitated to do due to my stiff, numb, swollen fingers and
frozen shoulders.
Once again after the celebration of the Holy Eucharist Fr Mathew affirmed that the Lord
was healing someone with sore arms and shoulders.
The Holy Spirit of God brought me to my feet and I claimed my healing with shouts of joy
and jubilant waving of my arms. I praise God for his mercy and love in healing me, an
unworthy sinner.
