Mandate for the Prophetic Mission

By Fr. Mathew Naikomparambil V C

It is the Apostolic Church that has been given the mandate to exercise the prophetic role over the whole world. The Apostolic Church must, therefore, be alert and active, filled with the gifts and charisms of the Holy Sprit, like the early Church.

When we approach an assembly of people anointed with the gifts and charisms of the Spirit, our hearts begin to burn and a great outpouring of the Spirit takes place. An inner urge makes such believers and prayer groups, renewed in the Spirit, pray and intercede for the whole world.

Perhaps the Lord is calling you, too, to suffer and intercede for the 600 and odd crores of people all over the world. Let us pray for all the Nations, ask for God's mercy and obtain for them remission of sins. Thus the punishment due to sin can be averted. The showers numerous blessings on those who intercede for others. The prophet Daniel interceded for his people and prayed for mercy. God sent the angel Gabriel with a message. The angel said to him, "Daniel, I have now come out to give you wisdom and understanding. At the beginning of your supplications a word went out, and I have come to declare it, for you are greatly beloved" (Dan. 9:22-23).

Let us intercede for the crores of people all over the world. God has raised up prophets for them. When we pray for others, He will bless the work of evangelization and the healing ministry. He will baptize the people of all the Nations with the Holy Spirit. This is the mission the Lord has entrusted to us.

Battle against Satan
God created man. He also created angels. Man broke God's commandments. One group of the angels did the same. They, as well as man, tried to become like unto God and thus became a prey to temptation. God's punishment fell on both. Still God gave man the means to be saved. He sent his only Son to the world to conquer the temptations of the devil.

Total liberation for the human race
The company of angels who, under the leadership of Lucifer, were disobedient to God and went astray - Satan and his army are prowling around "looking for someone to devour" (1 Pet. 5:8). Whereas Jesus has come to save every man. God has sent Jesus Christ to give all men total liberation from sin and salvation through faith in his Son.

"And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life." (Jn. 3:14).

This is the wondrous mercy
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not our doing, it is the gift of God." (Eph. 2:8).

Let us keep gazing at the resurrected Christ. We shall then be filled with the Holy Spirit. We shall experience the joy of salvation. The reign of Satan will come to an end. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (Jam. 4:7).

Give us the Spirit of discernment
"No thought escapes Him, and nothing is hidden from Him" (Sir. 42:20).

"He discloses what has been and what is to be, and He reveals the trace of hidden things" (Sir. 42:19). "The sun looks down on everything with its light" (Sir. 42:16).

Oh all-knowing God, make us partakers of your eternal wisdom. Reveal to us the thoughts that we must think. Make known to us the past and the future. Give us the charism of discernment. Jesus, the Sun of Justice, enlighten our minds, inflame our hearts with your Holy Spirit. You know fully well the circumstances of time and place. May individuals and societies discover your will! May they pray and work with this aim! May we grow deeper in the power of discernment for this purpose!

Praise the Lord!
